STORY BEHIND THE DISH:
A favorite at our house at Christmas time.
| INGREDIENTS: | |
| Crust: | |
| 2-1/2 cup flour | 1 cup butter |
| 1/2
cup sugar |
|
| Filling: | |
| 4 eggs | 3 Tblsp butter (melted) |
| 1-1/2 cup corn syrup | 1-1/2 tsp vanilla |
| 1-1/2 cup sugar | 2-1/2 cup chopped pecans |
DIRECTIONS:
Mix crust ingredients flour, sugar, and butter until it resembles fine crumbs. Press firmly into a greased 15x10x1 baking pan. Bake 20-30 minutes at 350 deg F.
In a bowl mix filling ingredients. Beat eggs, corn syrup, sugar, melted butter and vanilla until well blended. Add pecans. Pour over hot crust, spread evenly. Bake for 25 minutes or until filling is firm around the edges. Cool and cut.
The bars are very good, very sweet, very rich. Almost like candy.
