STORY BEHIND THE DISH:
Great desert for the holidays.

box vanilla wafers |
1 can sweetened condensed milk |
| 1 cup shredded coconut | pecan halves (for garnish) |
| 1 cup diced maraschino cherries | maraschino cherry halves (for garnish) |

cup pecans, chopped |

DIRECTIONS:
Crush vanilla wafers into fine crumbs and place in a large mixing bowl. Add coconut, diced cherries, and chopped pecans. Mix. Add condensed milk and blend. Mixture is very sticky, and it takes time to get it well blended.
Line a loaf pan or other pan of choice with waxed paper. Press mixture into pan. Cover with waxed paper. Chill for several hours.
When ready to serve, unmold into serving plate and garnish with pecan and cherry halves.
