STORY BEHIND THE DISH:
When I was a child I spent most summers and weekends growing up on my grandparents’ farm. Nana’s specialty was goat barbecue and her barbecue sauce. It is unlike any other I’ve ever had!
| INGREDIENTS: | |
| 2 Tbs cooking oil | 1 tsp lemon juice |
| 1 large onion, diced | 1 tsp prepared mustard |
| 2 cups ketchup | 2 Tbs Worcestershire sauce |
| ¼ cup honey | ¼ tsp garlic salt |
DIRECTIONS:
Sauté onions in oil until starting to brown, using a heavy saucepan 5 or 6 inches deep. Add remaining ingredients and simmer 30 minutes or longer. Best when served fresh.
This is not a basting sauce, but a sauce to be served with the meal. It is excellent with any barbecue or fried fish.
