Meryle is the fourth child of Otto Jacob and Emma Katrina Schulte Wiemers. Meryle was born on July 20, 1930. He married Shirley Bendele (oldest child of Arnold and Minnie Ewing Bendele) in the Devine Methodist Church on April 16, 1961. Shirley Colleen was born on July 28, 1936. Meryle and Shirley were blessed with four children (Michael Mimke, Elain Denise, Deboray Lynh, and Yvonne Jean.
Meryle served two years in the Army at Fort Bliss, Texas (1951-1953). Meryle worked at the Hondo Locker Plant, CPS, and Civil Service at Ft. Sam Houston and also in Germany. While in Germany, Meryle and Shirley visited many places such as France, Switzerland, Liechenstein, and Austria. They contacted Wiemers family members is Aurich, Germany and went to Colmar and Neiderantzen, Frances where the Beldele family came from. Meryle retired from Civil Service in 1990.
Shirley worked for Southwestern Bell and John Jay cafeteria.
Meryle and Shirley usually had a garden and bought vegetables from local farmers. They put up many quarts of beans, squash, okra, cauliflower, carrots, and pickles. Shirley would also put up jars of agarit, strawberry, and grape jelly. They had their own sausage grinder and stuffer and made lots of pork and deer sausage and also deer jerky. One day they made 160 pounds of sausage.
Meryle and Shirley would camp in state parks (Garner, Inks Lake, Bastrop, Jasper, and Fort Davis). They also went on trips to Niagara Falls, Cooperstown, Washington D.D., and Alaska.
Meryle and Shirley enjoyed playing Pitch, Caasta, and Dominoes (42 and Mexican Train) with friends, sometimes playing with friends two or three times a week and sometimes starting playing at 2 PM and finishing at 10 PM.
Meryle and Shirley celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church on April 16, 2011 with approximately 120 in attendance.
